This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information, and how we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It applies to our website at fcar-auto.com.au and to dealing with us in person, by phone or by email.

What information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:

• your name and contact details (phone number, email address, postal address);
• details about your vehicle — make, model, year and registration — and the reason for your enquiry or booking;
• the content of any message, enquiry or booking you send us; and
• for a pre-purchase inspection, details of the vehicle you are considering buying.

When you use our website, our hosting provider and some embedded services may also collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view.

How we collect it

We usually collect personal information directly from you — when you fill in a form on our website, call or text us, email us, or speak with us in person. Some technical information is collected automatically when you visit our website, for example through server logs and the embedded Google Maps and Google Fonts features.

Why we collect and use it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or other purposes. We only pass it to the service providers who help us run our business and website, and only so they can perform that service for us. These include:

• Web3Forms, which processes the messages and bookings you submit through our website forms;
• Google, which provides our email (Google Workspace) and the Google Maps and Google Fonts features on our website; and
• our website hosting provider, which stores and serves our website.

We may also disclose your information where required or authorised by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers above are located outside Australia, or store information on servers outside Australia — including in the United States. By providing your personal information to us, you consent to it being disclosed to and stored by these providers overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we may not always be able to control how it is handled once it is overseas.

Storage and security

How long we keep it

There is normally no charge to request access, though in some cases we may charge a reasonable fee for providing it.

Our website, and the Google Maps and Google Fonts features embedded in it, may use cookies and similar technologies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when they are used, though some parts of the website may not work as intended if you do.
